Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football with volunteer work in the community. The first is the Selmon familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on a Eufala farm. Two soccer. He is one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. Also, they won two national championships. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third season in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work throughout his time at college. After college he settled in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers was all-pro three times and started his business career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the 10 most notable young men across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He was captain of the team in 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an associate director of sports. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
